Abstract
Korean mobile internet users have been drastically increasing since a smart phone using high speed mobile internet was introduced in November 2009. Pattern of using information is changing from Personal computer to smart phone and affecting lifestyle as well as industrial structure. Mobile industry is transforming from mobile telecommunication companies to platform competition of hardware and software companies such as Apple and Google. Korean government tries to attract mobile communication companies into a network infra-structure competition and price cutting race. However, platform from application market and service competitiveness is more important than network in mobile internet service leading by smart phone. The application starts a ripple effect throughout the economy. We will research competition of rapidly changing mobile industry and deal with how platform strategy of mobile telecommunication companies and governmental policy should be changed in Korea.
