Abstract
In the first semester of 2020, due to the transitional measure of the face-to-face classes to on-line, the Introductory Japanese Classes were conducted by means of on-demand teaching materials. Taking up a lesson as
an example, an analysis was made, by use of Nine events of instruction by Gagne, in regard to how the lesson contents that are essential from the author’s point of view were integrated into the on-demand materials and how
the lesson contents were practiced in the class. Clarifying what were adopted and what were not among the essential instructions for learning, consideration has been given to the on-line design or the role of the teachers
that will be necessary in conducting language lessons on-line hereafter. Although this process cannot be generalized, it is expected to be the first step in shifting the Introductory Japanese Classes on-line.
