Strategic Relationship in the Telecommunications Industry and Business Processes

Abstract

Merger and acquisition (M&A) and other equity-based relationships are main form to conducting inter-firm relationships in the telecommunications industry. However, there have been almost no discussions to identify reasons and factors for the phenomena in spite of the importance of the issue for establishing new strategy or for analyzing industry trend. The authors try to discuss the issue and point out several factors in this paper. Also the authors discuss on diversification and differentiation of products in addition to discussing on regulatory system and business process that may affect inter-firm formation through comparison between several selected industry phenomena.
