Abstract

It is not necessarily that an operation manual is easy to understand for everybody. We think that one of the causes is the influence of individual characteristic of the writer and reader of the manual. In this research, we studied that the difference of the superiority of figure or character predominance causes the difference of understandability of a operation manual with experiment. Additionally, we focused on figure or character predominance and considered the best combination of experimental subjects and operation manuals. As a result of this experiment, when writing the manual, figure or character predominance influenced, it was found that difference appears in the feature of the manual, and we examined an ideal operation manual for the reader.
