Abstract
We consider “scientific relevance" (Fukumoto, Matsushima and Koga, 2014) in research process of MBA thesis. Management research should be not only scientific rigor but also practical relevance. Against this rigor-relevance gap, we propose how academic research becomes scientific relevance for practices by showing usage of management theories. As first, we have three presentations by MBA student. Although their search are practical issues-driven, they have various insights on the relationship between management theories and practice. Finally, an academic management researcher proposes old and new direction of management research to inquire practical relevance based on the doctrinal discussion about OD that is the theoretical method to intervening in practices.
