Observational Study on a Chatbot System for Youth designed to Promote Usage of Mental Consultation Services

Abstract

The “Comprehensive measures to prevent suicide" established by the Cabinet in July 2017 stipulate the enhancement of outreach measures that also utilize ICT in line with the characteristics of youth. However, guidance using conventional webpages is already being provided, and further effects are not expected. Accordingly, in this research, a chatbot system for promoting usage of mental consultation services was designed and operated on a trial basis, targeting Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture, and the observed outcomes from its operation are discussed.
