A study on telework as a solution for management problems of Japanese firms

Abstract
This study shows that the major points of the present management problems faced by Japanese firms. The management problems addressed are "innovation/high value-added value", "improvement of productivity of white-colors", "response to flexibility of organization", "effective use of IT" and "cost reduction". Then, expected benefits of telework adoption are described and correlated with the above management issues. Through literature review and a survey study, this study shows that telework can be an effective solution to resolve the management problems. The frontier research issues of telework on management problems are also discussed. At the end this study indicates that management perspective is important in order to use telework for resolving management problems.
