Abstract
Many research literatures and textbooks in project management mention that selecting an appropriate communication method, including contents, channel, frequency, document design and so on, with the project type and stakeholders needs is important to the project success. However, on domestically distributed software development projects, it seems that the project managers are not aware of the difference in between distributed and concentrated projects, and thus they use the same set of communication methods for both concentrated projects and distributed projects. As a result the members of distributed project often cannot communicate with each other efficiently. In this study, hypotheses for the difference of communication methods and communication efficiency between distributed and concentrated software project is proposed. The preliminary research to verify the hypotheses is also conducted.
