Abstract
In humans, the risk of kidney disease is reportedly lower in individuals who consume a large amount of a powerful antioxidant known as proanthocyanidin (PAC). In the present study, we administered blueberry stem extract (0.2-0.6 mL/kg/day) containing a high concentration of PAC orally for 3-4 months in two Beagles and a Maltese dog with reduced kidney function and monitored changes in their kidney and Liver function. We demonstrated that the level of blood urea nitrogen was reduced in all dogs while the level of creatinine was also reduced simultaneously in one dog (two dogs).
