Abstract

In order to extend the facilities for investigating aerodynamic stability of structures, we have installed a new low speed wind tunnel of the Göttingen type (overall length of wind path; 107m) at our Technical Research Institute at Akashi in 1982.
The test section of this wind tunnel is 3.0m in height, 2.5m in width and 20.0m in length. Therefore it can simulate an atmospheric boundery leyer.
Wind velocity is able to vary from 0.2m/sec to 25m/sec.The Uniformity of the velocity distribution is less than ±0.3%, the turbulence intensity less than 0.2%, and the static pressure distribbtion less than 0.66%/m. This paper outlines the above-mentioned characteristics and performance of this newly built wind tunnel.
