Abstract

In the previous papers, the authors reported that Lactobacillus heterohiochii and L. homohiochii required yeast extract for growth in the improved Tamura's media containing high concentration of ethanol and that some peptides were involved in the effective factors.
In this paper, two peptides having growth promoting effect of L. heterohiochii No.59 were purified. they consisted of either methionine or glutamic acid or both of them.
