Middle molecules, which are contained in the blood of chronic renal failure patients, can be detected by using high-speed liquid chromatography. Analysis of blood or dialysate with HSLC is completed within 35 minutes. Application of a two-pool model for the body water of the patients clearly indicates that MM has a tendency to be removed mainly from extracellular space.
