Design of Porosimeter for Hardened Cement Mortar

Abstract

Washburn and Bunting (J. Amer. Ceram. Sco. 5, 1922, 507-37) showed a porosimeter for full size brick, its manipulation and an equation for calculating porosity (x), but not its principle. The author of this paper described its principle, and after searching for theoretical conditions necessary to measure porosity (x) sensitively, he designed a porosimeter for hardened cement mortar of a cylindrical shape, 92mm in diameter and 40mm high.
