Abstract

The object of this study is to find out the method of description of the character of constituent mineral phases in the aluminous cement clinkers produced in different plants.
In this experiment, the specimens of aluminous cement clinker used were made by rotary kiln and electro fusion furnace.
The characterization techniques were the same as reported in the previous papers. Such as chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction techniques, optical characters determination, micro probe analysis and others were applied but many difficulties arose from the very fine texture.
In this paper, therefore, the characters of clinker were mainly analysed on the electro fusion furnace clinker, but in this case morphology and mineral compositions were widely different in each grain.
Whereas, C2AS and CA phases were well distinguished under the microscope with in etching technique in application of 1% borax hot aqueous solution and hot H3PO4 respectively as the etchants.
