Abstract
Drainage effect of geotextiles (spun-bonded non-woven fabrics) was examined, based on field measurements on the embankment in which geotextiles were used as horizontal drainage layers.
The observations on the pore water pressure changes inside the embankment during and after rain show that increased pore water pressures due to seepage water after rain smoothly decrease with time by the drainage effect of geotextiles. Therefore the effectiveness of geotextiles as drainage layers was confirmed from the filed measurements.
