I report the effects of the Hokkaido Eastern Iburi Earthquake and the subsequent blackout that occurred in the early morning of September 6, 2018, based on the results of a questionnaire survey of the members of the Hokkaido Society of Clinical Orthopaedic Association.
Although direct damage from the earthquake was small, damage from the blackout, including suspension of business, was extensive.
This event underscores the importance of measures to be taken against power outages according to the scale of a medical institution.
