I report my experience of 29 cases of toe fractures that were fixed externally using Aquaplast for finger splints. Since the fixtures were small, all the patients were able to wear shoes even after the fixation. Although there were 2 cases of delayed union and 1 case of pseudarthrosis, bone union was eventually achieved in 28 cases. I think that this method is particularly useful in environments where people spend a lot of time barefoot, like in Japan.
