Recycled aluminum may contain other metallic elements introduced during the recycling process, raising concerns about potential impacts on material performance. This study investigates the influence of impurities on filiform corrosion in 6000 series aluminum sheets. Using electrochemical surface characterization techniques such as Kelvin probe force microscopy, the effects of varying impurity content on the surface properties of aluminum sheets, the quality of phosphate conversion coatings used as automotive paint primers, and the progression of filiform corrosion after painting were clarified.
