Fundamental experiments of practicing organic amine type inhibitor in freezing industry is as follow:
1) In experimenting the percentage of anti-corrosive in the room temperature and 70°C by adding 500ppm of inhibitor in the brine has resulted in either case it shows gradually the decrease of percentage in anti-corrosive effect from the beginning.
2) The inhibitor in the city water or brine mixing with 500ppm will result by adding 5 or 10ppm respectably each day, you may maintain the anticorrosive percentage of 60-70%.
3) In order to disperse the inhibitor in the brine perfectly, I used the material of the surface active agent on city sale that it seems to be non-ionic type, but it showed that anti-corrosive efficiency brings low by them.
There are reasons whether surface active agent induced to react with the inhibitor for its ionic or washing effect would be overacted as a result of excessive amount of surface active agent used.
Therefore, you should be particularly ware of its choice and its consumming amount of the surface active agent using with the inhibitor utilized in freezing industry.
By adding 100ppm twice into the brine at the ice plant, the result of the observation after adding at the rate of 5ppm each day for 180 days from the 100th day of it, the percentage of anti-corrosive effect is about 60-70%. The difference of anticorrosive effect was little in changing the method of adding the inhibitor.
We have observed the anti-corrosive effect by color-photographing the brine tank and ice can from the beginning.
As the time pasts gradually the inhibitor will derust and expose the surface of iron.
A new ice can will not show any rust but after 3 months the surface of zinc plated metal will become black in color and brittle in quality. The small rusted dust suspended in brine will precipitate and the brine is clearified.
