For ten kinds of package materials, the corrosive factors such as pH, chloride content and specific conductivity, were measured, and steel pieces wrapped with these materials were put in humidity chamber for corrosion test. The relation between the content of corrosive components and rusting grade on steel was studied. The results obtained were as follows:
1) About 0.5mg/l of NaCl content appears the minimum point for package materials allowable to be used for mild steel.
2) If pH is larger than about 5, it will have little influence on mild steel.
3) Any distinct standard to decide the corrosiveness can not be fixed by the specific conductivity of extracts from package materials.
