In Japanese Heian era layered (Kasane) color was used for lady’s kimono. A thin silk was worn on colorful kimono to bring forth different color to people. In this experiment we investigated the layered color by using tissue instead of silk. Ten colors were printed on papers as stimuli and a commercially available tissue was placed on the papers. A subject judged the color by using the elementary color naming method. Five tissue conditions were prepared, no tissue, one sheet of tissue, two, three and four. Haze values were 0, 77, 89, 90, and 92, respectively. Ten subjects with normal color vision participated. Results showed no apparent hue change with increase of number of tissue but amount of chromaticness reduced.
