Abstract

The color appearance of hand skin color changes complicatedly by a light source and a nail polish. In this study, we evaluated the color appearance of subject’s hand skin color with the nail polish(pink, yellow)under LED light sources with various color rendering properties, and the change of color appearance were tested with subjective and colorimetric analysis. As a result, the appearance of hand skin color changed with nail polish under light sources with high color rendering performance(Ra > 80),the hand skin color was evaluated reddish with the pink nail and yellowish with the yellow nail. This result means that the hand skin color was induced to the hue of nail polish and can be explained by the hue assimilation effect. On the other hand, the hand skin color under the extreme color rendering light sources had no influence of the nail polish, and the color appearance were determined by the characteristic of the skin color rendered. For many general light sources(Ra > 80), it was concluded that not only the influence of the color rendering property of the light source but also the appearance itself of skin color varies depending on the nail polish.
