CRUDE IMOGOLITE: A NEW REFERENCE CLAY SAMPLE OF THE CLAY SCIENCE SOCIETY OF JAPAN

The clay science society of Japan (CSSJ) starts to provide researchers with crude imogolite as a new reference clay sample of CSSJ. The sample was taken from a weathered pumice bed at Kanuma, Japan. Nature and some properties of the sample are discussed based on its chemical composition, XRD, DTA-TG and electron microscopy data. A summery is introduced on the procedure for further purification of imogolite.
