Abstract Over the last three years, 2016, 2017 and 2018, Aichi Gakuin University held the Interprofessional Education (IPE) event for 5th-year students in the Schools of Dentistry and Pharmacy. The participants were able to collaborate with each other and learn more about each of their fields of study. We reported here on the outline and questionnaire results of this event for the three years.
Respective numbers of participants in the IPE event were : 110 dental students and 121 pharmacology students (total 231) in 2016 ; 90 and 140 (total 230) in 2017 ; and 99 and 136 (total 235) in 2018. Information on simulated patients at the conference was given in advance to both groups of students, and they were instructed to consider questions before the event. The students were separated for small group discussion on PBL. The group discussion considered the patient's problem area, collaboration between the two fields, and offering and requesting information between fields. The students were then instructed to create and submit discussion sheets for each small group.
In response to the question, “Was this IPE event significantly useful?”, more than 70% of the students said that it was “very useful” or “useful” in each year.
Although the IPE event was for our university, it was generally well received by both student groups.
