The incidence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease（COPD）and bronchial asthma has begun increasing in early 1960s in the population of Yokkaichi-city（Mie Prefecture, Japan）. No new cases have been reported after 1988. The present study aimed at examining the sex differences in survival of Yokkaichi Asthma patients. It was observed that survival of female patients from Yokkaichi-city were significantly longer than malepatients.
