Abstract

In the early stage of spacecraft design, it is important to consider power management for the sizing of electrical power subsystems. Particularly for advanced CubeSat missions, requirements for the power management easily get critical due to the size limitation of electrical power subsystems, including solar array paddles and batteries. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze power balance under various conditions within a short development period of the CubeSat. However, in the early phase of CubeSat design, there are some difficulties in the power balance evaluation, such as high uncertainty in power consumption of components under development. Here we propose an integrated software platform for efficient feasibility analysis of the CubeSat power management. This platform enables a variety of power analyses efficiently with two essential features, consolidation of power management calculation algorithms and input/output flexibility for various evaluation conditions. According to the CubeSat design status, input data for the proposed platform can be changed and are quickly reflected in each analysis. In addition, its result and discussion can be applied to actual design of the electrical power subsystems in the CubeSat.
