In melting process of cast iron, it is known widely that carbon contents transfer from coke to casting products. However, in Japan, GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions from melting process of cast iron have not taken into consideration carbon absorption effect for a long time.
For this reason, GHG emissions in the melting process of cast iron are overestimated for certain quantity, equivalent to that of carbon transfer to product.
In this research, we reviewed GHG emissions from the melting process of cast iron refering to the GHG emissions calculation method from the iron and steel production. Additionally, we reassess GHG emissions from melting process of cast iron in Japan.
