Abstract

Although 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (decarboxylating) (EC 1.1.1.44) has not been detected in Leuconostoc mesenteroides B07, the NAD-linked dehydrogenase catalyzing only oxidation of 6-phosphogluconate was purified from this organism.
Basal properties of the dehydrogenase was studied and the dehydrogenation product was isolated and identified as 2-keto-6-phosphogluconate.
