Abstract
This paper describes the history and meaning of the mame “Tiger Glen Garden” (Kokei no niwa), which is the common name for the Nishihonganji Taimensho Garden. It is proposed that the garden allegorically depicts the Chinese parable known as the Tree Laughers of Tiger Glen (Kokei Sansyo) which in turn symbolizes the Unity of the Tree Greeds (Sankyo icchiron): Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism.
