Abstract

Lectotypes are selected for five old names in the Racomitrium heterostichum group; the names represent different genotypes (taxa), which grow together in mixed stands in many constellations. On the bases of characteristics in leaves and capsules, the types are grouped into three, with R. affine, R. heterostichum and R. obtusum in one group, and R. microcarpon and R. sudeticum in the two other groups, respectively. Much material in herb. B - Bridel and G - Hedw./Schwaegr. is revised. The holotype of Dryptodon carnosus Dicks. ex Brid. is similar to Racomitrium heterostichum.
