Abstract

The purpose of this study was to measure the physical load for the golf beginner students in summer golf class. The subjects were 15 university male students who were golf beginners. They played a round without a cart(Day 2)and with a cart(Day 3 and 4). During a round, their heart rate, steps, body weight, body temperature, drink intake, and sweat rate were recorded. In addition, WBGT was measured every 30 minutes during a round.

As a result, WBGT in the golf class was 17.7~30.4℃. Steps during a half round were 6,709±719~8,678±405. As for the weight loss 0.6±0.5~1.1±0.4% was obtained. The body temperature was 0.3±0.3~0.8±0.5℃, and the drink intake was 54.4±16.2~75.5±18.7%. The drink intake(%)was significantly correlated with the weight loss(%)(r=‐0.86, p<0.05)and the body temperature (r=‐0.41, p<0.05).

In conclusion, the golf class in this study was held in hot environment. It was found that instructors need to pay adequate attention to the methods, time, and drink intake to inhibit the physical load on the course.
