Abstract
A case of divergence nystagmus due to mid-brain tumor is described in detail. The patient, aged 37 year old man, had been sent to hospital with the sign of double vision, paresis of right hand and right foot and left blephaloptosis. Right blephaloptosis were also found. Clinical diagnosis of Webers syndrome and oculomotor palsy had been made. Divergence nystagmus was recorded and the result of caloric test was DP to the left.
After 1 month hospitalization, the patient relapsed and died.
Postmortem examination revealed glioma of mid-brain which invaded both sides of stria longitudinalis medialis located lower part of aquaeductus mesencephali, the area of nucleus originis nervi oculomotorii, and partially infiltrated to rombencephalon.
