The therapeutic effects using Amidotrizoate for sudden deafness from September 1973 to March 1977 were studied; the results were found to be the followings:
1. Out of 76 cases using this therapeutic method, 30 cases resulted in complete recovery; 11 cases of remarkable recovery; 6 cases of recovery; 29 cases had no change.
2. Out of 19 cases with vertigo, 2 cases resulted in recovery; 17 cases were seen to have no changes. It was found that this therapy had no effects on the cases with vertigo.
3. Studies have been made of a relation between the periods from the onset of deafness till this therapy was applied. Eighty one parcent of the cases was found to result in complete recovery or remarkable recovery if the patient began this therapy within 14 days from the onset of deafness.
4. Cases with less than 90 dB of hearing loss in the beginning of the therapy had positive effects from the therapy but cases with 90 dB and higher resulted in no recovery. Generally, it was seen through this therapy that a patient whose degree of hearing loss was between 70 dB and 90 dB had littie chance of complete recovery and had a tendency of a remarkable recovery which meant that the patient still had some hearing loss.
5. It can not be denied that sudden deafness results in spontaneous recovery, but it was certified through this therapy that its therapeutic effects depends on Amidotrizoate because the healing process was proved at the same time when the therapy started.
6. The drugs, as a rule, will bring better effects by increasing their dosage. In this therapy, 2ml of Amidotrizoate was dosed, but for the cases that 2ml was not effective, better therapeutic effects were gotten by dosing 20ml or 100ml. Therefore, it was proved that Amidotrizoate brought also better effects by increasing its dosage.
