Abstract
Two cases of posttraumatic stenosis of air way treated successfully were reported.
A 61-year-old farmer had crushed his cervical trachea by a flying block of wood. Two months after the accident, annular excision of the stenotic cervical trachea of 3 segments and end to end anastmosis were performed. To confirm the anastmosis, suprahyoid release by Montgomery was done and a polyethylen tube of 14mm diameter and 50mm long was detained to avoid the developement of recurrent stenosis. One month after the surgery, it was confirmed that the patient was in good condition.
A 64-year-old farmer had thrust his neck for the purpose of suicide. Forty five days after the injury, his completely stenotic larynx was opened by laryngofissuure and labial mucosa of 15×30mm was transplanted on the rough surface in the glottis after the complete resection of scar tissue. A core mold made of a rubber film, a surgical glove was utilized, was set to press the transplant, to keep the glottic space and to avoid maldeglutition. After 2 weeks, the core mold was extracted and his larynx was reconstructed with sufficient laryngeal functions.
