A case of cystic parathyroid adenoma

Hyperparathyroidism with a neck mass as the initial symptom

Abstract

Large cystic parathyroid adenoma is a rare occurrence. A 70-year-old male with a mass in his neck was suspected of a thyroid adenoma with cystic degeneration. After surgery this mass was histopathologically diagnosed as cystic parathyroid adenoma. Postoperatively, hypocalcemia appeared and developed for 7 months after surgery.
