Abstract
One hundred and four patients with oral carcinoma treated at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, University of the Ryukyus Faculty of Medicine from 1974 to 1985 were reviewed. In the incidence of patients with carcinoma of the floor of the mouth, advanced neck lymphnode metastases were observed most frequently. For such patients, chemotherapy and radiotherapy were the treatments of choice. The crude five year survival rates were 50% for carcinoma of the buccal mucosa, 45% for carcinoma of the tongue, 20% for carcinoma of the hard palate and 11% for carcinoma of the floor of the mouth.
