Abstract
A case of unilateral piriform sinus cancer reconstructed with a pectralis major myocutaneous flap to preserve laryngal function was reported. Following a course of preoperative radiation therapy (41.2Gy), In order to suspend the larynx, thyro-hyoid pexia and hyo-mandibular pexia were carried out. The laryngeal and pharyngeal lumen were closed with a pectralis major myocutaneous flap. Aspiration was continued for 9 months and the tracheostoma was closed 12 months following surgery. During the 13 months following closure of the tracheostoma, the patient has maintained successful laryngeal function.
