Abstract
In this study, Saiboku-to was administered to 61 cases with abnormal sensation lump in the throat. Saiboku-to is a Kampo medicine which is known to have anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory and sedative effect. The effectiveness was evaluated subjectively and symptomatically. The results were as follows;
1. Rates of marked, moderate, and slight improvement were 15%, 26% and 30%, respectively.
2. Four week medication was more effective than two week medication.
3. The drug was more effective in non-smoking patients than smoking patients.
4. There was positive correlation between efficacy and “Sho”, that is special technique for the indication of Kampo medicine.
5. MAS (manifest anxiety scale) was not carrelative to the drug effectiveness.
