From 1988 through 1997, in department of head and neck surgery, Gunma Cancer Center, 110 patients with tongue carcinoma, 108 patients with laryngeal carcinoma and 47 patients with hypopharyngeal carcinoma were operated as initial treatment. In these cases, we analyze the recurrent pattern and secondary treatment of recurrent cases. Advanced cases are recurred, then, the treatment is difficult especially recurrent hypopharyngeal carcinoma. In any case, preoperative diagnosis is important. The recurrent tongue carcinoma can be currable, if it can be done operation.
