Abstract
The records of 10 cases with repeated acute low-tone sensorineural hearing loss (repeated ALHL) at Yokosuka North Mutual Hospital from May, 1995 through October, 1998 were investigated regarding clinical statues and a cause. Of these patient, 3 were males and 7 were females. Their average age was 40.4 years. As the initial symptoms, most patients had ear fullness and/or tinnitus. The frequency of recurrent attacks ranged from twice to ten times. The intervals until next attacks ranged from 2 days to 23 months. After follow-up, one patient was diagnosed as Meniere's disease. Regarding the prognosis of 8 patients who have been followed up for more than three months were as follows: 6 cases were cured and 2 cases showed an improvement. Two of three cases showed positive responses in the glycerol test, thut suggesting that endolymphatic hydrops in the cochlea exists in cases of repeated ALHL.
