Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of bepotastine besilate regarding an improvement in quality of life (QOL) in perennial allergic rhinitis. Twenty-two patients were administered 10mg bepotastine besilate twice daily for 4 weeks. The severity of clinical symptoms and QOL were assessed before and after treatment using JRQLQ (Japanese rhino-conjunctivitis quality of life questionnaire) No.1. The symptom scores for sneezing, rhinorrea and nasal obstruction all significantly improved after a 3-day period of treatment. In addition, the QOL score in 8 of 17 items clearly improved after a 3-day period of treatment. In conclusion bepotastine besilate was found to improve the QOL while also relieving the symptoms in patients with perennial allergic rhinitis within a short period of time.
