The authors reported a case with foreign bodies in the esophagus, who swallowed four iron nails with the object of suicide. At first esophagoscopy was performed, but discontinued because the tips of the nails had stuck into the wall of the esophagus. Accordingly the foreign bodies were removed with success by esophagotomy.
