Abstract
Monostotic fibrous dysplasia of the maxilla was found in a 56-year-old female and a 23-year-old male.
Usually proliferation of fibrous dysplasia tends to decrease with age, but our 56-year-old female contracted the disease at 41 years of age, and it continued to grow, recurring even after three resections.
Both patients were treated with partial resection.
We examined the tissues with scanning electromicroscope. Fibrous dysplasia is discussed and the literature reviewed.
