We encountered a case of nasopharyngeal carcinoma complicated by syndrome of inappropriate secretion of antidiuretic hormone (SIADH) following intravenous cisplatin administration. A 51-year-old man with nasopharyngeal carcinoma was treated by radiation and chemotherapy. Convulsion and coma occurred three days after infusion of cisplatin with hydration. He was diagnosed as having SIADH because of hyponatremia, hypoosmolarity of the serum and hyperosmolarity of the urine. He also had herpes simplex encephalitis and did not regain consciousness. He died of herpes simplex encephalitis and carcinomatosis on a year later.
