One patient with necrotizing lymphadenitis (NLA) was found to have Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection. The CMV antibody titer was elevated, and in situ hybridization, CMV-DNA, was detected, suggesting that some types of NLA may be closely related to lymphocyte proliferative disorders caused by CMV.
