A 55-year-old male with chronic sinusitis was treated with sinusectomy. Patient had MRSA infection at the site of operation, and lost the sight of his right eye. Endnasal decompression of the optic canal was performed, but his visual acuity did not show early recovery. Then, we opened both maxillary sinuses again and removed the coating, because fever, cheek pain and headache persisted. Culture of nasal discharge was negative eight weeks after the infection. Visual acuity recovered to 0.3.
We emphasize that careful attention to MRSA infection is important, and accurate curettage and irrigation are necessary to control the infection.
