Trauma of the larynx and the trachea is unsusual, but once it occurs, management is not easy. A 32 year old man who suffered from a contusion on the anterior neck during a traffic accident is reported. Before laryngo-plasty, thyroidal cartilage fracture and dislocation of the cricoarytenoid joint were diagnosed by three dimensional CT. Surgery was performed by open incision one month after the collision. The lack of a left vocal cord was supplemented with neck skin graft. Three weeks later, the surgical wound was closed secondarily. No granulation or stricture developed in the air way after surgery. Laryngeal function improved to almost normal.
