The effect of tobramycin (TOB) in the endolymphatic or the perilymphatic space on the posterior semicircular canal (p. s. c. ) nerve response was studied. The p. s. c. of the bull frog was placed in a double chamber filled with artificial perilymph and endolymph. When TOB was added to the endolymph, p. s. c. nerve response did not change. When TOB was added to the perilymph, p. s. c. nerve response decreased. Therefore, the main effect of TOB may be through the perilymphatic space.
