Otorhinolaryngology Clinic Inpatient Statistics: 1977-1997

Abstract

A retrospective study was made of inpatient statistics for the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Kawasaki Medical School between April 1977 and March 1997.
The total number of patients was 6,627 and the number of diseases treated totalled 7,033. Regarding the sites of disease,2,480 were in the pharynx (35.3%),1,721 were in the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses (24.5%),1,018 were in the ear (14.5%),954 were in the larynx (13.6%),268 were in the salivary glands (3.8%),218 were in the neck (3.1%),184 were in the oral cavity and tongue (2.6%),102 were in the trachea and esophagus (1.4%), and 88 were in the face (12.5%).
