Abstract
The recent and near future prospects of the raw material for town gas manufacturing are described.
Conclusions show that coal should not be much more consumed for gas works, unless the by productive cokes would be promised for consumption of iron steel industry.Petroleum will be increasingly consumed for gas making.LPG is the most interesting as the material for gas manufacturing and its transmission of large quantity by the freezing tanker will be realized at near future, and will become the most effective material of town gas.
The effective utilization of the low grade coal in Japan, for example by the Lurgi's highpressure gasification process ould be expected to be realized from the standpoint of national policy, but it seems that many difficulties would be encountered.
